It’s Okay to Be this Holiday Season
As you navigate this holiday season, you may experience an overstimulated nervous system, and seemingly conflictual emotions in a given moment: feelings of excitement and grief, feelings of loneliness and fullness, and feelings of shame and relief. There are so many stimulations, responsibilities, triggers, and energies that may demand your attention all at once around this time.
Imagine all your emotions on a volume dial, and sometimes you may feel like you have control over how high and low in turning these knobs. Other times, you may feel like you don’t have control over these constantly fluctuating knobs. That is okay. Take a moment to acknowledge the emotions that are on low level vs on high spikes vs on near silent levels. Call them out loud, give them voice and space and hold them without judgment or attempts to fix, change, or remove them. You are resilient and more capable of tolerance and deserving of grace than you may realize.
There may also be expectations to present, perform or behave a certain way for and/or with others. Not having capacity for kindness or gratitude towards others in the moment does not mean that you are not a good person. It’s okay not to have infinite unconditional kindness every moment. Having the capacity for it and choosing not to use it every single time for others does not mean that you are not a good person. It’s okay to listen to the selfish and self-seeking part of us in moments. Lean inwards, listen intuitively to yourself, and perhaps even consider a new ritual that focuses on bringing a spotlight of warmth, comfort or lightness to yourself, to the part of your physical body that feels like it’s been lacking attention and love. It’s Okay to Be… It’s Okay to Be Selfish… It’s Okay to Be You this Holiday Season!
Monthly Oracle Card
I Must Be Selfish Enough to Align with Well-Being”
“If you are not selfish enough to deliberately align with the energy of your source, you have nothing to give away. Some worry that if they take too much of the pie, others will be left with nothing; while, in reality, the pie expands in proportion to the vibrational requests of all of you.”
